The customer approached us with a request for the manufacturing and complete assembly of a measuring fixture based on provided STEP data. The fixture had to be produced with high precision, and its components had to strictly adhere to defined dimensional and geometric tolerances. Projects like this are a prime example of where the combination of precise CNC manufacturing, expert setup, and 3D measurement is crucial for verifying functionality and geometry. The manufacturing process began with an analysis of the provided STEP data and the customer’s technical requirements. Based on this data, individual fixture components were prepared for CNC machining, ensuring high dimensional accuracy, surface finish quality, and manufacturing repeatability. Each part was produced according to precisely defined tolerances to ensure the proper functionality of the entire assembly and its reliable deployment in operation. Following the machining phase, the fixture assembly stage began, during which all components were integrated into the final setup. The assembly was performed with an emphasis on precision and the correct alignment of all moving and fixed parts. Each element was inspected to prevent unnecessary deviations and to ensure optimal fixture functionality. A key step was the subsequent precise verification of geometry and component positioning. For this purpose, a professional Hexagon Romer Absolute Arm equipped with a tactile probe was used, enabling highly accurate 3D measurement of critical surfaces, bores, and seating points. This measurement system provides a detailed view of the precision of individual parts and their correct orientation within the overall assembly. Thorough inspection using 3D measurement allowed us to verify that all assembly parts were correctly aligned and that the fixture met the required specifications. In the event of minor deviations, fine adjustments were made, ensuring optimal functionality and reliability. This procedure is critical for measuring and inspection fixtures, where even a minimal deviation can impact measurement results or the production process. Upon completion of assembly and inspection, a detailed 3D measurement report was generated, documenting geometric accuracy, component positioning, and functional conformity with the STEP data. Such a report serves as a certificate of quality, ensures audit traceability, and provides the customer with the assurance that the fixture is ready for seamless deployment in the field. The entire project clearly demonstrates that the combination of precise CNC manufacturing, expert setup, assembly, and 3D measurement using the Hexagon Romer Absolute Arm is the most effective solution for the production and verification of measuring and inspection fixtures. The result is a highly precise, reliable, and functional fixture that meets all customer requirements and is ready for immediate operational use.
